At this point in time, the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes is now legal in 23 states. Although there are still those who do not believe that it does any good.
There was a study done with patients who suffered from chronic pain and they were divided into two groups, one group smoked a single cigarette a day while the other group smoked an identical cigarette but with delta 8 gummies instead of delta 9. They then measured their input and output to calculate how much energy they used up daily as well as measuring nicotine intake, carbon monoxide concentrations and so on. They found differences only during the first few days after switching over to delta 8 from smoking regular cigarettes. Then eventually after they became accustomed to delta 8 they have similar values as those who have been smoking regular cigarettes.
The researchers pointed out that this discovery shows the importance of choosing a type of THC to use when administering it in medical situations because delta 8 is only psychoactive in small quantities, so you wouldn’t notice there being much difference when using it for pain relief.
In another study done on 30 participants suffering from chronic migraine headaches required intravenous administration every 5 days for 3 months. Participants reported an average of 18 severe headaches per month prior to treatment, but after 12 weeks, they experienced just one severe headache per month, and that was during the first week after treatment had stopped and their overall quality of life also significantly improved. After the third infusion, they rated how severe their pain was on a scale from 0-10, with 10 being the worst and they averaged 3.1 during treatment and 0.3 after stopping treatment, showing that the effect of delta 8 is long-lasting.
Are Delta 8 gummies safe? After reviewing these studies, it would be safe to conclude that delta 8 can actually be a better alternative to regular marijuana THC because of its high therapeutic index which means it has a larger difference between safe dose and effective dose so you need not worry about taking too much, unlike other types of THC where even a slight overdose could have severe side effects. This makes it an appealing choice for use especially in patients who are at risk or those who cannot tolerate other forms of THC as well as those sensitive to psychoactive drugs altogether.
It seems as if this new discovery will open up more possibilities of treatment for patients suffering from severe illnesses that current types of THC cannot provide.
